insecurities

insecure :
  1. (of a person) Not confident or assured; uncertain or anxious.
  2. (of a thing) Not firm or set; unsafe.

too many too many too many insecurities

may I ultimately find security in Jesus Christ…not in people, relationships, media, beauty, career, money, etc.

in the midst of it all, a great reminder to myself and everyone else :

December 31st - Yesterday

You shall not go out with haste, … for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard —Isaiah 52:12

Security from Yesterday. “… God requires an account of what is past” (Ecclesiastes 3:15). At the end of the year we turn with eagerness to all that God has for the future, and yet anxiety is apt to arise when we remember our yesterdays. Our present enjoyment of God’s grace tends to be lessened by the memory of yesterday’s sins and blunders. But God is the God of our yesterdays, and He allows the memory of them to turn the past into a ministry of spiritual growth for our future. God reminds us of the past to protect us from a very shallow security in the present.

Security for Tomorrow. “… the Lord will go before you … .” This is a gracious revelation— that God will send His forces out where we have failed to do so. He will keep watch so that we will not be tripped up again by the same failures, as would undoubtedly happen if He were not our “rear guard.” And God’s hand reaches back to the past, settling all the claims against our conscience.

Security for Today. “You shall not go out with haste … .” As we go forth into the coming year, let it not be in the haste of impetuous, forgetful delight, nor with the quickness of impulsive thoughtlessness. But let us go out with the patient power of knowing that the God of Israel will go before us. Our yesterdays hold broken and irreversible things for us. It is true that we have lost opportunities that will never return, but God can transform this destructive anxiety into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future. Let the past rest, but let it rest in the sweet embrace of Christ.

Leave the broken, irreversible past in His hands, and step out into the invincible future with Him.

Especially thankful

These days I’ve been especially thankful for friends. :)

With my dad in Korea and being by myself for the past 4 years in San Diego (minus cousins who I don’t see often), I realized that my friends were the ones who kept me going throughout college. Being stuck in San Diego every single day…including weekends…was at some times a struggle because I couldn’t escape from people that easily. I envied those who could go home for the weekends. Now that school is coming to an end and people are starting to leave, I’m trying my best to hold on to the times I have left with those around me. Looking back at the past 4 years of college, I now understand why God put certain people in my life at specific times. Although some relationships have faded, I thank God for even those friendships. My prayer for accountability and understanding what true accountability is…has been answered. I idolized people and placed my identity in my friends, but throughout college…God taught me to put Him first…trusting that everything else will follow…including my relationships. I can confidently start my days believing that there are friends who love me and God has blessed me with. I thank my friends who put up with me for the past 4 years while I was in the process of adjusting to college. Especially the ones who were there for me when I was the most difficult to put up with. And the ones who were there for me during all the major holidays haha. :) When I now call my friends…my sisters and brothers in Christ, they are not merely words that come out of my mouth but truth of what I really believe. Being alone these past 4 years has been tough, but seriously thank God for friends. We were created to run the race until the end not alone but hand in hand with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Love, for the Day Is Near

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,”[a] and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

11 And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.[c]

Decided to make a photo blog : photosbyeug.tumblr.com

Just for fun, I guess :) Always wanted to, so why not right? I have been realizing these past few quarters how much I love taking photos! I’m a noob but that doesn’t stop me from taking pictures.

Some of the top reasons why I love taking photos:

1. capturing memorable moments. some candid, some not

2. editing/playing around with lightroom

3. opportunity to be creative with my imagination

4. nostalgic feelings i get when i look at old photos

Something I lack: living my life with the bigger picture in mind. The bigger picture equals God’s kingdom and eternity with Jesus Christ.
